#HandsOffAngela: 23 Politicians Demand Charges Be Dropped Against Medical Cannabis Mom

St. Paul — On Sunday, Sept. 28, 23 politicians from six political parties released a petition demanding all charges be dropped against a Minnesota mom being prosecuted for providing care for her 15-year-old child, Trey, by treating his traumatic brain injury and related intractable pain with medical cannabis. Petition URL: Short: http://chn.ge/1uwoodB – Full: https://www.change.org/p/minnesota-elected-officials-drop-the-charges-ag…

Proceedings against Angela Brown are expected to begin in Montevideo, Minnesota, on Monday, Sept. 29. If found guilty of the two gross misdemeanor charges Angela Brown is currently facing, Brown could spend two years behind bars and be forced to pay $6,000 in fines.

Minnesotans find the government’s treatment of Angela for trying to heal her son completely unacceptable. A St. Cloud State University survey released in January had 76% of Minnesota residents in support of medical cannabis yet Governor Dayton blocked comprehensive medical cannabis reform and left more than 30,000 patients like Trey behind.

Not only did Governor Dayton block a version of the medical bill which would have protected Angela Brown and her son, Governor Dayton said patients had an illegal option and the consequences were no more than a traffic ticket. She did nothing more than what Governor Dayton suggested she do.

We demand these charges be dropped and encourage voters to elect people who will stand by them and support rational cannabis policy. Angela’s online legal fund is here: http://www.gofundme.com/8rog50
